Publications (Selected)

In the 1970s, UCLA College Library (undergraduate library) reference librarians created pathfinders and annotated bibliographies on popular topics that were complicated to research at the time. Some were published to accompany exhibits, linking exhibit topics to the collection. One could consider these materials as examples of a form of library instruction, now called "information literacy instruction." In later years, pathfinders and other library instruction materials morphed into websites, online tutorials, and videos, as well as LibGuides, Google Sites, and more.

Library School Outreach Task Force — Complete report and recommendations from an ACRL Instruction Section Task Force I chaired, with a goal of developing a draft Toolkit and suggestions to help library schools and librarians work toward offering information literacy courses.

LILi (Lifelong Information Literacy) — Website for the multi-type library group I established in 2005, with a mission of developing sequential, lifelong information literacy curricula for all levels in California.

Teach Information Literacy & Critical Thinking! — 2009-present: Originally designed to help instructors learn how to incorporate information literacy instruction into their curricula and assignments. Expanded to aid librarians. Includes many downloadable and adaptable materials, all covered by a Creative Commons license: Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike.
