Course Description
This course is designed to prepare the nurse educator with the essentials of course, curriculum and program design, including assessment, evaluation, and ethical/legal standards of nursing education in academic settings. Purposeful use of educational technologies will be threaded throughout the course giving learners opportunities to explore teaching and learning strategies in the classroom, online and in hybrid formats. Learning theory and evidence-based pedagogy will support teaching and learning throughout the course. Learners will explore personal and professional values with regard to the art and science of nursing education and life-long learning.

1. Apply selected learning theories and teaching strategies that support optimal learning in academic settings
2. Examine models of course, curriculum and program design
3. Analyze advantages of educational approaches in academic settings to achieve desired learning outcomes.
