Research interests: Geochemistry of rock-water systems. Thermodynamics of aqueous solutions; mineral-fluid surface chemistry. Chemical and mass transport modeling of natural waters. Geochemical aspects of CO2 geologic sequestration.

Iowna compoleted her thesis in September 2013 on sxperimental studies on the sequestration of CO2 in basaltic rocks. Change in chemistry and mineralogy of solutions under pCO2 pressure percolating through a vertical column (plug) filled with basalt particles.
