The Eagle River High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) was established on 01 July 2006, and designated as AK-20061, in the State of Alaska. The Corps is presently under the supervision of Senior Aerospace Science Instructor, Colonel (Ret.) Scott Brokaw. Col Brokaw and Aerospace Science Instructor, MSgt (Ret.) Jeanette Fuller. The Principal of Eagle River High School is Mr. Timothy Helvey.
Our Group earned the “AFJROTC Distinguished Unit” award from the headquarters of AFJROTC for 17 Years in a Row, six times with merit, and we have no doubt that we will continue to earn this award in future years. Our unit receives outstanding support from parents, teachers, and administrators here at Eagle River High School. As well as from the Eagle River and Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson communities. We could not have come as far as we have without this support and we look forward to an ever-growing relationship.
The Eagle River JROTC program continues to build character in our cadets by giving them experiences serving our community. Enrollment is currently numbered at 92 cadets.

Our outstanding unit is designated a group with two squadrons and six functional flights. During each school year, our Drill Teams have the opportunity to compete in drill competitions against other high schools in the state of Alaska. In years' past, we have been awarded trophies. We visited Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson AFB; attended the military ball, physical fitness competitions, and survival training. We hosted the JROTC Bowling Tournament and raised funds to purchase Drill Team Equipment. We hosted a cadet “lock-in,” where cadets got to know each other and bond as a unit.
