Diesel Turbine-Electric Hybrid Car
Originally a stock 1986 RX-7 GXL with a naturally-aspirated 13B rotary engine, this vehicle was converted to a plug-in diesel-electric hybrid. Powered by a 190kW (254hp) nominal DC electric motor, 25kWh battery pack, and capable of charging via 110V and 220V Level 2 charging stations, it has an all-electric range of up to 80 miles. Range extension is provided by a 15kW gas-turbine engine running on diesel, providing power generation and extending driving range by up to 300 miles per tank.
