*FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*
ERD Engineering took home its first award ("Best In Show") at the 7th Annual Energy Invitational. This year, Vital Link hosted the invitational in conjunction with the Race 4 Your Future Car Show.
Twenty-five (25) collegiate and high school teams participated in the race. Among these teams were the UC Irvine cars Delta and Epsilon.
ERD Engineering was contracted to restore Epsilon to running condition. Liam Buchanan drove Epsilon on race day. Ryan Norris was the captain of the crew, composed of Zach DeMotte and Antonio Rojas.
The objective of the race was to go as far as possible on $1 of fuel. The race was conducted in four 15-minute segments, or "heats". Of the two UC Irvine teams, we're proud to report that Delta got second place overall! Epsilon placed sixth overall for their incredible effort! Top honors went to Foothill High School.
The hybrid RX-7 took home the Best In Show award at the Race 4 Your Future Car Show against some fairly tricked-out competition. The Race 4 Your Future Car Show featured Classic, Muscle, Antique, Exotic and Sports cars. Over 1,000 visitors attended this event. Among the tuned cars were four rally-spec Subaru WRXs, one Honda Genesis, one Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, one Mercedes, and two Camaros. Among the show-quality cars were two Ferraris, five Porsches of various models, one Ford Model T, one Ford Model A, one Ford F-100 truck, the other Mercedes (an AMG), an extensively stormtrooper-themed Honda Genesis, and a timelessly gorgeous 1957 Studebaker Avanti.
