Bow & Arrow — Dream One

Bow & Arrow — Dream One

I bought a Japanese bow and arrow at a market-place filled with many people. I pulled it out from under things. It was black wood, beautifully carved. An old woman said, ‘Hold it under your chin and pull the string back, until when plucked it sounds like a harp’. I held it and played it. Later I shot an arrow onto a target across an inlet. We stood around in the water — one of those days when the sea and sky are monochrome grey.
