Strong Attack 强攻
After Wen Yang receives damage from another character, he may immediately initiate a Duel against that character.
Enemy’s Defeat 敌百
Whenever Wen Yang wins a Duel, he may take one card from the opponent.
"Strong Attack" only triggers when Wen Yang is damaged by another player. It does not activate from self-inflicted damage or effects like Lightning.
The Duel from "Strong Attack" follows normal Duel rules—Wen Yang’s opponent plays the first Attack.
Wen Yang does not need to play any card to activate "Strong Attack" and begin the Duel. He simply declares a Duel to begin.
Wen Yang may choose not to activate "Strong Attack".
"Enemy’s Defeat" only activates if Wen Yang wins the Duel; losses grant no benefit.
He can take any type of card from the opponent, including hand, equipment, or pending area.
High deterrence against being attacked due to immediate counterattack potential.
Generates strong tempo through card steals after winning Duels.
Can turn a losing situation into an advantage by punishing over-aggressive enemies.
Naturally synergizes with cards that increase Duel success, like Serpent Halberd.
Vulnerable to characters who don’t rely on direct attacks or tools for damage.
If card-starved, Wen Yang can’t afford to Duel and may become passive.
Loses effectiveness when facing characters with high Attack counts.
Relies heavily on winning Duels, which are hand-dependent.
Duelists:
Characters like Lu Bu are always looking for Duels and are very dangerous when in their strong suit.
Card Support:
Allies like Liu Bei or Guo Jia who help supply him with more cards boost his offensive potential.
Possesses defensive retaliation, but will crumble under the focused assault of the rebels unless surrounded by support.
Effective when protecting a King who draws aggression, using counter-duels to punish attackers.
Solid choice—threatens direct damage and steals key cards from the King’s team.
Unpredictable and capable of outlasting rivals with careful hand management and strategic Duels.
Wen Yang is a strong counterpuncher who thrives on punishing aggression and seizing momentum. His unique ability to immediately respond to damage with a Duel discourages opponents from reckless attacks, while "Enemy’s Defeat" allows him to capitalize on his skill and nerve. While he can falter when low on cards or against indirect threats, a well-timed Duel can flip the game in his favor. He is best played with aggression and cunning, taking calculated risks to dominate the battlefield.
Wen Yang was one of the formidable warriors during the twilight of the Three Kingdoms era. His bravery was forged during two successive rebellions against the Sima clan. At just 18 years old, he famously led a daring night assault on Sima Shi’s camp, causing such chaos that the Wei regent suffered a physical breakdown during the attack. Later, despite his father's execution by Zhuge Dan, Wen Yang defected to Sima Zhao and helped suppress the same rebellion, earning a pardon and military title. Under the Jin dynasty, he became renowned for subduing Xianbei tribes, yet his career ended tragically when he was executed on false charges of treason.
In Sanguosha, Wen Yang’s abilities—"Strong Attack" and "Enemy’s Defeat"—perfectly capture his ferocity and resilience. "Strong Attack" reflects his relentless pressure in combat, mirroring his reputation for riding headlong into enemy lines. "Enemy’s Defeat" emphasizes his aggressive response to injury, channeling pain into immediate counteroffensives. Wen Yang plays like the historical warrior he was: bold, unstoppable, and unafraid to turn the tide of battle through sheer force of will.
