Unite 一统
During his turn, Sima Yan can use any hand card as a Unity by placing it face-down on the table. He may have up to four Unities at a time. If he begins his action phase with four Unities, he may exchange them with any number of cards from his hand.
Whenever Sima Yan receives damage, he may discard two Unities to reduce that damage by one.
Founding 开国
During his turn, Sima Yan may reveal and discard all of his Unities. If all four suits are among the cards, he may choose any other player to lose one health.
Prosperity 昌盛
King Ability: Sima Yan's hand limit increases by two for each other character from the Jin kingdom that is still alive.
When Sima Yan uses "Unite", the Unities are treated as face-down markers and do not count as hand cards.
Sima Yan can only have up to four Unities at any time. He cannot place a fifth one even if he has more cards in hand.
The exchange during the action phase with "Unite" can include any number of cards from his hand, not just four.
Unities used to reduce damage through "Unite" are discarded face-up.
When using "Founding", Sima Yan must discard all Unities and reveal their suits. If all four suits are different, the target loses one health directly.
The effect of "Founding" is like Zhang Chunhua's ability—it causes health loss, not damage.
"Prosperity" works identically to Yuan Shao's "Bloodline," except it applies to members of Jin instead of Hero.
Can convert any hand card into a delayed power source through Unities.
High defensive potential through damage reduction from Unities.
Can punish opponents with health loss via "Founding" if he maintains suit diversity.
"Prosperity" allows for huge card retention when played as King with Jin allies.
Requires careful planning and resource management to maximize Unities usage.
Vulnerable if disrupted before accumulating four Unities.
Relies on suit diversity, which can be difficult to maintain consistently.
Loses efficiency when Jin allies are eliminated, weakening his King ability.
Jin Allies:
Characters like Yang Hu, Jia Chong, and Du Yu help maximize "Prosperity" and reinforce Sima Yan’s card advantage.
Card Cyclers – Allies like Liu Bei or Guo Jia who allow flexible hand management support his Unity system.
Excellent in long games if supported by Jin characters. High hand limit and damage mitigation make him durable.
Performs extremely well in extended games, particularly when characters support him. damage-reducing Unities make him difficult to eliminate. He excels at supporting the King through consistent card presence and survivability.
Can gradually build up pressure, but slower tempo might hinder early-game aggression.
Difficult to play, but lethal in late game when card control and hand limit stack up.
Sima Yan is a methodical and resilient general who rewards patient play and strategic hand management. His ability to convert any card into long-term value through Unity makes him adaptable, while "Founding" offers powerful single-target punishment when carefully set up. As King, his "Prosperity" turns hand advantage into long-term control, especially in Jin-heavy lineups. While not explosive early, Sima Yan thrives when left alone to consolidate power.
Sima Yan was the first emperor of the Jin Dynasty and the grandson of Sima Yi. His reign marked the end of the Three Kingdoms period, as he conquered Eastern Wu and unified China in 280 AD. His measured consolidation of power is mirrored by his ability "Unite," which gradually builds strength through consistency and balance. The ability "Founding" references the moment he established a new empire, requiring harmony among different suits to succeed. "Prosperity" reflects his legacy as the initiator of a new dynasty, with his stability and longevity represented through increased card capacity when Jin allies remain. Sima Yan's gameplay emphasizes strategic accumulation, harmony, and timely exertion of imperial power—just like the historical figure who brought an end to the chaos of the Three Kingdoms.
