Whenever Zhao Yun is brought to the brink of death, he can choose any other player to recover three health.
If Zhao Yun uses "Deception" and attacks a player who has no hand cards, the damage remains normal and does not receive a bonus.
"Black Pommel" functions the same way as the weapon Black Pommel, meaning it negates the effects of armor like Eight Trigrams or Black Shield.
"Savior" allows Zhao Yun to heal any player except himself. He cannot target someone already at full health. He can target someone that is missing fewer than three health.
If Zhao Yun is the King, "Savior" can be an incredibly powerful tool for keeping key allies alive, as it allows him to protect Loyalists or other crucial players.
The Saint Expansion comes with a token to keep track of when Zhao Yun uses "Deception". This is a picture of what comes included. While it's not necessary to use official tokens, these examples offer ideas and inspiration from those seen in play.
This tokens are simply used as an indicator that Zhao Yun has or has not used "Deception". This makes it easier for all players to better understand his position with his abilities. When Zhao Yun uses "Deception", he turns the token face up. At the start of the next turn, he turns it face down and Exiles his character card.
"Deception" lets Zhao Yun unleash massive burst damage, particularly when Dueling an opponent after discarding many cards.
"Black Pommel" ensures that no armor can protect enemies from his attacks.
"Savior" provides a powerful support ability that can shift the tide of battle in favor of his allies.

While "Deception" can be an advantage, Zhao Yun being out of play can also be a liability in crucial moments.
Card Giving Characters:
Zhao Yun benefits greatly when paired with characters who can feed him cards to throw, such as Liu Bei or Guo Jia, as "Deception" can make Duel devastating.
Hand Disruptors:
Allies who force opponents to discard, such as Gan Ning or Zhang Liao, can reduce enemy hand sizes, limiting Zhao Yun’s bonus damage while making his attacks more predictable.
As a King, Zhao Yun can be a solid choice thanks to "Savior" protecting Loyalists. However, his reliance on hand cards for "Deception" may leave him vulnerable to Rebels.
A strong pick, as he can deal massive damage in duels and protect the King with "Savior." His presence can make Rebels hesitant to attack aggressively.
Effective due to his high burst damage, but his inability to heal himself makes him a risky option if the battle drags on.
