Ashutosh Kumar Pandey's won 'Sri Amarnath Pandey Memorial Best Poster Award(2023)'

Ashutosh Kumar Pandey, a Ph.D student in our lab, has won 'Sri Amarnath Pandey Memorial Best Poster Award  for the paper entitled "New hybrid evolutionary machine learning method for green hydrogen production forecasting and membrane bioreactor feature selection"  at the International Conference on New Horizons in Biotechnology (NHBT-2023) jointly organized by CSIR-NIIST, Trivandrum and the Biotech Research Society, India at Trivandrum, India during November 26-29, 2023. 

Gibeom Kim received 'The Very Best Poster at the 3rd ICPPCT(2023)'

Gibeom Kim, a Ph.D student in our lab, received 'The Very Best Poster at the 3rd International Conference on Pollution Prevention and Clean Technologies(ICPPCT)' in 2023. This conference primarily aims to demonstrate how new and innovative clean technologies could be used to promote sustainable use of energy, reduction in carbon footprints of the buildings, industrial manufacturing processes, and service industries. Research aspects suggesting innovative environmental policy instrument designs and pioneering financial models that could promote design of energy-efficient and carbon-neutral products/processes/technologies are also of special interest.

Gibeom Kim received 'Merit Academic Paper' award(2023)'

Gibeom Kim, a Ph.D student in our lab, received the 'Merit Academic Paper' award. This certificate is hereby awarded in recognition of the aforementioned student's outstanding contributions made in the academic field of Natural Science by writing the Doctoral Paper entitled "Impact of thermal pretreatment on anaerobic digestion of dewatered slude from municipal and industrial wastewater and its econimic feasibility".


Gibeom Kim won '19th young researchers in the field of  resource recycling conference(2022)'

Gibeom Kim, a Ph.D student in our lab, won the '19th young researchers in the field of resource recycling conference' in 2022. This conference was organized by the Korea Society of Waste Management, which contributes to academic research, development, and information exchange in the field of waste management. Gibeom Kim received an award in recognition of his contribution to waste management research. 



Jungsu Park won '20th young researchers in the field of  resource recycling conference(2023)'

Jungsu Park, a Ph.D student in our lab, won the '20th young researchers in the field of resource recycling conference' in 2023. This conference was organized by the Korea Society of Waste Management, which contributes to academic research, development, and information exchange in the field of waste management. Jungsu Park received an award in recognition of his contribution to waste management research. 



Ashutosh Kumar Pandey's paper secured the Cover Image of Bioresource Technology Journal

Ashutosh Kumar Pandey published a paper about managing the production of a water treatment product called waste-activated sludge (WAS) could be improved using an analysis method based on an artificial neural network and by acidogenesis produces value added chemicals called volatile fatty acids (VFAs). His paper secured the cover image and also listed in article digest of Bioresource Technology Journal. 

Dr. Ju-Hyeong Jung joined Kunsan National University

Dr. Ju-Hyeong Jung was appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering at Kunsan National University in April 2023.

 Dr. Jung earned a Ph.D. degree on the subject of "Hybrid immobilization and dynamic membrane bioreactor for high-rate biohydrogen production from food waste" in 2022 and has worked as a senior researcher at SK ecoplant for one year. 

Dr. Young-Bo Sim won a Sejong Science Fellowship (2023)

Dr. Young-Bo Sim won a prestigious research fellowship (Sejong Research Fellowship) granted from Ministry of Science and ICT, which is awarded to outstanding young investigators in Korea. Dr. Sim earned a Ph.D. degree on the subject of "High-rate biohydrogen using dynamic membrane bioreactor (DMBR) from algal biomass" in 2023 and he will be supported by the fellowship for up to the next five years, developing 'Bioaugmentation of Clostridium species and electro-fermentation using dynamic membrane for high-rate biohydrogen production from waste biomass'.

Saint Moon Kim received 'CEE Best Paper of the Year' award

Saint Moon Kim earned a Master's degree in 2023 and has won the 'CEE Best Paper of the Year' award for his outstanding research on the "Formation and characterization of H2-producing granule in a pilot-scale dynamic membrane bioreactor". 

His research paper, titled "Formation and characterization of H2-producing granule in a pilot-scale dynamic membrane bioreactor", was recently published in the prestigious Chemical Engineering Journal, which has an impact factor of 16.744. His work explores the use of a dynamic membrane bioreactor to produce hydrogen gas from organic wastewater, which is an important area of research for sustainable energy production.

Saint Moon Kim also won numerous awards from Korean Society of Water Environment, and Korea Organic Resources Recycling Association for his excellent academic works.


Jisu Yang received Best Paper Award 

Jisu Yang earned a Master's degree in 2023 and has received the 'Best Paper Award' from the Korea Society of Waste Management (KSWM) for her research on "Enhanced biohydrogen production via extracellular electron transfer". 

Her research paper, titled "Enhanced continuous biohydrogen production using dynamic membrane with conductive biofilm supporter", was published in Bioresource Technology (IF: 11.889). 



So-Young Park won 'Female Graduate Student Engineering Research Project (2023)' 

So-Young Park, a master's student in our lab, won the 'Female Graduate Student Engineering Research Project' in 2023. The Female Graduate Student Engineering Research Project is a highly competitive and prestigious program that is given annually to the most promising female graduate students in engineering. It intends to support the subsequent generation of female engineers and to advance equality and gender diversity in engineering research. 

Yura Jo won 'Female Graduate Student Engineering Research Project (2022)' 

Yura Jo, a Ph.D. student in our lab, won the 'Female Graduate Student Engineering Research Project' in 2022. The Female Graduate Student Engineering Research Project is a highly competitive and prestigious award that is given annually to the most promising female graduate students in engineering. The award aims to promote gender diversity and equity in engineering research and to support the next generation of female leaders in the field. 

She conducted excellent research on the subject of 'High-rate activated sludge (HRAS) systems for energy recovery potential in wastewater treatment ' during this program and she set an excellent example of a female researcher on future energy recovery and reducing the environmental impact of wastewater treatment.
