Rhythm Quest

Understanding how to read and play music is one challenge, but composing is an entirely different challenge!

To get started, you first have to understand beat and meter. The next step is learning rhythms. Rhythm is the short and long sounds and silences in music. We use musical notation to write music and measure the length of sounds and/or silences in beats.

In this WebQuest, 3rd grade students will be:

  • reviewing beat, rhythm, and meter
  • reviewing notes and rests from the k-2 standards
  • learning about 16th notes
  • Creating a rhythmic composition using standard notation and digital tools.
