Based on the success from my previous QLC I decided to continue using the reflection format I set up last year.
Positive:
- simple to use
- weekly
- links to SRL goal setting
Minus:
- not strictly learning focus
- doesn't show growth
- limited assessment of core learning areas
Interesting:
- girls are familiar with using label function

After observing the students' reflections for term one I felt they weren't as in depth as they could be and didn't really show growth over time. I reflected on this and felt it might be because asking the girls to reflect on their whole week of learning was too big. They couldn't often remember what they had done all week. I decided to make reflection tasks more prescriptive but still aimed to use the label function.
Positive:
- familiar format
- answers were more detailed
Minus:
- still a 'one off'
- time consuming to unpack and explain
Interesting:
- girls needed a lot of modelling to come up with ideas

After attending the assessment capable learners PD day in the holidays I was inspired to create a format that the girls could use to assess themselves. I decided to focus on the curriculum area of writing and follow Tara's self-assessment model from Year 2.
Positive:
- photo of learning
- shows growth
- engaging for parents
- focused reflection comments
Minus:
- time consuming - signing in and taking photos that are clear enough
- girls found writing the caption hard
- can't set as an activity
Interesting:
- girls could also record themselves reading their writing

After some success with reflecting on one curriculum area I wanted to start expanding our reflections to include different areas to share a range learning with parents.
Positive:
- photo of learning
- shows growth
- engaging for parents
- focused reflection comments
- variety of curriculum areas but same reflection format
Minus:
- can't always set as an activity - photos of work
- parent engagement?

- depth of verbal reflections are improving
