Counseling Theories was the course that challenged me the most in my psychology program. This course taught me how to do an initial intake
on a client where I look at their social/background history, make observations, create an appraisal, risk assessment, and create a treatment plan. The intakes created throughout the course were based on different counseling theories and techniques. I learned that when creating my own counseling style I must keep in mind that there is no set technique that one should stick with. One must be able to create a treatment plan that fits their client's needs and cultural beliefs.
Below you will be able to view two of the intakes that I created in this course. I have included my first initial intake, as well as one of the final intakes I created in order to view my progress.
