Elerias was once a flourishing world with civilizations and races expanding and growing in a prosperous Golden Age. Then calamity struck , all of humanity enslaved by worshipers of a Demon Lord. The last bastions of civilizations destroyed and knowledge controlled to stop rebellions.
6 Heroes rose up to destroy their oppressors eventually freeing all of humanity. Civilization slowly went on to rebuild and recover from this horrific age. Over time new gods were worshiped and a new age began. A period where the people of Elerias once again set out to discover the world they lived in and stamp out any remnants of the demonic cult
Originally the majority of the races had their own empires and territories. While members of each race lived within the territories of other races they still considered their home to be the empire or lands of their individual race.
After the great demon war however, all civilizations were destroyed and systematically erased. Cultural identities destroyed to ensure uniformity so that the population would be easier to control. This has meant that society today is an even mix of all the races of Elerias excluding orcs. While half orcs are treated as any other races , society as a whole still views orcs with mistrust as they were the only race who entirely supported the demonic order.
Society has rebuilt itself. Whilst vastly different from before, society is once again on the cusp of entering a golden age of prosperity. For a brief few decades after the war there was peace as communities grew however that soon changed as new kingdoms, cities and empires were created which led to centuries of war where borders constantly changed and the common people suffered.
Now almost a millennia after the Desolate Era borders have stabalised with a plethora of factions, governments and empires focusing on growth rather than war. This change was largely brought about by the re-discovery of ruins with relics and magics of the old world enabling huge leaps forward in technology and understanding of magics. As such adventuring has become a dangerous but common occupation.
