Manual Toothbrush Or Electric Toothbrush?

Dentists play an integral role in helping their patients to keep their oral health in the best shape possible. But each patient must also take a primary role in the maintenance of their own teeth. To have a beautiful smile that you can be proud of you must start with the basics which are brushing your teeth.

To brush your teeth you first must choose a toothbrush. The options available on the market can be broken down into manual toothbrushes and electric ones. The question then becomes- which type of toothbrushes is best and which one should you choose?

Not every dentist will tell you the exact same thing as it really comes down to personal preference. According to the Academy of General Dentistry the optimum toothbrush is the one that feels best to you and the one that you will use faithfully. Ask any dentist; brushing your teeth is a key element to having healthy mouth. Manual toothbrushes have their good and bad points and the same can be said for electric toothbrushes. Consider what both types of brushes have to offer you and then select the one that suits you the most. Ask your dentist for his or her perspective on the subject.

Manual Toothbrushes

Manual toothbrushes are the more popular of the two types of toothbrushes. If you look at pharmacies and grocery stores you will see many different brands of manual toothbrushes in different colors and different styles. These brushes are inexpensive which means that when it is time to replace one you do not need to spend a lot of money. Most of these brushes have a handle that is easy to grip and are lightweight. Some of the manual toothbrushes are equipped with a tongue scraper to get rid of plaque that has built up on your tongue. When you travel you can buy a case for your toothbrush or you can choose to purchase a manual travel toothbrush.

On the negative side you will need to replace your toothbrush approximately every three months. You will know it is time to toss it when the bristles begin to turn in an outward direction. Some of these brushes are not easy for those with problems such as arthritis to hold onto. Manual brushes for teeth have no timer that lets you know when you have brushed long enough.

Electric Toothbrushes

Electric toothbrushes take much of the work out of brushing your teeth. They are a good choice for those who do not enjoy the task of brushing their teeth at all. Some people enjoy the feel of this brush as it cleans the teeth and gums. This is a good choice for those who tend to be aggressive brushers.

Some electric toothbrushes are made with built-in timers that let you know when you have brushed your teeth for a total of two minutes. Two minutes is the length of time that dentists recommend you should spending cleaning your teeth. Most of these brushes have larger ergonomic handles in comparison to manual brushes which is a benefit to many individuals. Electric toothbrushes do not have to be replaced as often as manual brushes. Some will last up to six months before the head needs to be replaced.

On the downside electric toothbrushes are more costly than manual brushes. As well they require recharging or replacing of the batteries. These brushes are heavier and more cumbersome to travel with.

Best Philips Sonicare Toothbrush

I was reading an article a few days ago and there was an article which was about the best electric toothbrushes from Philips Sonicare. I really was interested to find out more about it as I am considering switching to a rechargeable toothbrush from one that is manual. I thought that it was unnecessary to use an electric toothbrush before as you can simply brush your teeth longer and get the same results. However, I was able to read quite a lot of electric toothbrush reviews which said that using an electric toothbrush has definitely improved the condition of their teeth and gums.

I would like to maintain the good condition of my oral health so besides having regular check-ups with my dentist, I thought that I should also try using a rechargeable toothbrush. I will probably try using the toothbrush that was in the article. I really like its features and I’m sure it will be worth spending for.

I brought my son to the dentist as he is complaining of having a painful tooth. It has been persistent for a few days already and although he was afraid to go to the dentist, I thought that it would be a good idea to bring him to our dentist so that we know how to deal with it.

The dentist said that he has a cavity. He did remove it but he said that my son should start using a rechargeable toothbrush. He explained that it will be able to effectively get rid of plaque and because it is electric, he will not get too lazy to use it. I asked if there is a particular brand and model that he can recommend and he said that Philips Sonicare has a good line of rechargeable toothbrush. I have a friend whos has been using the Philips Sonicare Flexcare Platinum Connected Rechargeable Toothbrush with UV Sanitizer for almost a couple of months. He thinks that it is the best electric toothbrush for the money. It really is able to keep his teeth and gums looking healthy. I have tried using a couple of electric toothbrushes before but the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum seems to be the best when it comes to getting rid of plaque. I think what sets it apart from other electric toothbrushes is its sanitizer. It is able to get rid of up to 99 percent of bacteria and virus build-up on the toothbrush and that gives user the assurance that the teeth and gums are clean. It is a bit more expensive than other similar products but when you know more about its features, you will understand why it has that price tag. Philips Sonicare FlexCare HealthyWhite

The retail store that is a few minutes away from my place will be going on sale this weekend and I can’t wait to see what items now have reduced prices. I am not really planning to shop for particular products but it would be quite nice if their dental items including rechargeable toothbrushes will be included in the sale. I would really like to try using the new Philips Sonicare FlexCare HealthyWhite but I have not bought it as it is quite expensive. Best Electric Toothbrushes

What is the best electric toothbrush? I am thinking of replacing the one that I am using and I would like to buy a rechargeable toothbrush that has some of the best teeth and gum cleaning features. I know that there are quite a lot of toothbrushes that are being sold today and that is making it harder for me to choose the right toothbrush.

I don’t have a certain amount that I will spend on it but I would definitely want to buy an electric toothbrush that is worth every penny. Which Electric Toothbrush to Buy

I have a friend who works in the dental care industry and I have always been asking him for advice as to what rechargeable toothbrush I should use. I got interested in using rechargeable toothbrushes a few years ago. I had a dental problem then and it was interesting how it was able to significantly improve the condition of my oral health in a few weeks.

I have tried a few brands already but because I have been using my current rechargeable toothbrush for over a year already, I thought that it would be a good idea to replace it. I asked my friend what the top rated electric toothbrush is as I really want to use one that has advanced features. He did recommend to me a few brands and he said that these are considered to be the best toothbrushes by a lot of dental professionals. I can’t wait to shop for a new electric toothbrush.

Oral Irrigators

Well-groomed teeth are the personal calling card for a bright, vivacious smile. The spaces between the teeth and the gums are just as important as the teeth themselves. An oral irrigator is the ideal answer to the fact that these are sometimes difficult to reach.

What does a mouth irrigator do?

Oral irrigators complement oral and dental hygiene. They rinse the last residues from the gaps, mouth and throat area. In this way, they prevent bacteria from settling. Inflammations are prophylactically prevented. If slight irritations are present, they can be alleviated. And not to forget: Most models of irrigators, mouthwashes and water jets can also be filled with mouthwash. The result is a fresh breath that gives you a self-confident feeling for hours.

Modern mouthwashes from Panasonic, Oral-B, AEG or PHILIPS have various functions and can be adjusted according to personal requirements. For example, different intensity levels are available. The water pressure is infinitely adjustable. Just as the contact pressure must not be too strong when brushing teeth, the gentle handling of gums and the like is also decisive when using mouth rinsers. The jet can be set narrower or wider. And to complete the oral hygiene procedure, the automatic spray function is usually activated briefly.

An oral irrigator is particularly helpful for people who wear a bridge or an implant. Brushing with a toothbrush is only possible to a certain extent. Dental floss can only be used to a limited extent. The well-dosed jet of water will reliably rinse out food remains. In addition, many systems are equipped with brushes with which the gums can be gently and gently massaged.

Easy cleaning of interdental spaces

Brushing your teeth has long been a matter of routine. The slightly rotating movements have been trained since childhood. Cleaning the interdental spaces, on the other hand, seems lengthy and, depending on the condition of the teeth, quite complex. The oral irrigator makes the procedure much simpler, more efficient and faster.

While brushing with the brush dissolves plaque and residues, they also get back into the spaces between the teeth. The careful speed of the water jet removes them immediately and reliably. The oral cavity is cleaned to a certain extent from the residues of cleaning. The ergonomic shape of the handles is ideal.

Quick Oral Care Tips

Should I Brush My Teeth After Eating?

The reason for the wait is because after eating, the acid in certain foods can actually weaken the enamel that surrounds and protects your teeth. If you rush into the bathroom and brush your teeth whilst they are in a weakened state, you run the risk of damaging the enamel and exposing your teeth to bacteria.

Once it’s gone, it’s gone, so we need to take good care of our teeth’s enamel!

A good alternative to brushing, is to rub a small amount of toothpaste into the teeth and gums with your finger. This is called the “massage technique”, and can boost your protection against plaque bacteria by 400%!

How Often Should I Replace My Toothbrush?

Those eager to improve their dental health, often wonder if they should rush into the bathroom after lunch in order to brush their teeth. Brushing after eating would be a great boost to your oral health, but there’s a big BUT that you need to be aware of.

Brushing after eating is a good idea, but make sure that you wait at least 30 minutes before doing so.

If you continue to use a toothbrush with worn bristles that stick out at all angles, you can actually damage your gums and maybe even cause them to recede over time.

If you’ve suffered with a cold or the flu, it’s a good idea to get a new toothbrush as the bacteria from your disease will reside on your brush and go back into your mouth when you brush your teeth.
