JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge

    • September 17, 2008 || Google fielded our largest team ever at the San Francisco qualifier and swept the field. A scoring & eligibility controversy kept our womens and coed teams from the world finals, but the mens team finished first with a combined time of 1:11:54 over a 3.5-mile course around Chrissy Fields. October 6, 2008 || Crosby, Justin, Mike and I traveled to New York City for the World Finals. Saturday morning, in front of a crowd including AuntMel, we improved our time from the SF qualifier by a few seconds to take second...in the world. The weekend was capped off by a dinner at JPMorgan's Manhattan office and a great night at Slide with Mapes and Bear Fights.

Labor Day in Catalina || August 29-September 1, 2008 || The Helen B. served as diving platform, sun deck, running home base, bar--as well as sleeping quarters and transportation. The pictures really say it all--another great Labor Day with the Gisses, with an added stop in Avalon this year. And yes, that's a pair of humpback whales you see in the opening series of shots.

Family Trip to Skaneateles || July 26-30, 2008 || While the weather didn't cooperate as much as hoped, the weekend did provide some great swimming, skiing, running, jamming, etc. See the photos here.

Nike Hood to Coast Relay || August 22-23, 2008 || The new Google team bonded over the 200 miles between Calistoga to Santa Cruz and were ready to take on the best at the oldest and largest relay. 197 miles from Mt Hood to Seaside--the team finished 3rd corporate (behind Adidas and Nike...again) and 9th overall, bettering our 2007 time by 7 minutes. Weekend at Kansas City & Crag 'o' Loch || June 20-22, 2008 || Gates BBQ. Water skiing. Need I say more?

Tour de Cure || June 8, 2008 || Parker and I joined the Google team in raising money for the American Diabetes Association. Back in the saddle for a charitable cause (familiar, right?), we took on a difficult course starting in Palo Alto, up and over Kings Mountain, to the Pacific and back. The course was replete with beautiful scenery and some vicious climbs.

Maggie's Graduation || May 23-22, 2008 || The whole family made it to Middlebury, VT for a beautiful summer Memorial Day weekend. Check outpictures from the weekend. Then came the dorm move-out. Congratulations to Maggie and her classmates!

ING Bay to Breakers || May 18, 2008 || In San Francisco's oldest (established 1912) & largest road race (officially there are 65,000 participants...unofficially, there are 65,000 40s), I placed 94th overall with a chip time of 44:33. Course Map

Palm Springs || May 9-11, 2008 || A roadtrip to Palm Springs with the Google crew. Featuring desert running, Dancemaster, Indiana Jones, chicken-fighting, golfcourse tumbling and the emergence of Katy Perry's immortal "I Kissed a Girl (and I Liked It)." Oh, and my birthday. Check out photos here.
