I received my PhD (U Gothenburg) in 2000 and have been full Professor of Economics at Department of Economics since 2010. Since 1 July 2018, I hold a position as Vice Dean at the School of Business, Economic and Law, University of Gothenburg. My main research fields are long-run economic growth, economic history, development economics, institutional economics and political economy whereas my main areas of teaching are macroeconomics and development economics.

I am an affiliated scholar of EUDN, a former member of SIDA Research Council, and was a specialized co-editor of Economic Inquiry during 2014-17. My most recent extended research visit was at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University in 2010.
