One Act Play, FALL 2012
Book by L.R. Karcz
Music and lyrics by Bill Francoeur
With many apologies to William Shakespeare, actors and audiences alike will have a rip-roaring good time with this entertaining musical take-off of The Taming of the Shrew. Set in the American ol’ West, the stubborn and bossy Katy Lou is driving everyone in town as crazy as a coyote with laryngitis. Her sister, sweet Miss Bianca, is wondering if she will ever be free to marry her handsome suitor, Larry, especially since she has to wait until her bad-tempered sister can be tamed with love. Things become even more difficult when outlaws show up! With lively characters that include cantankerous cowboys (including the lovable Stinky Jones, who needs his monthly bath), romantic heroes, outrageous outlaws and lovely town ladies, there are plenty of roles to go around the campfire! This comical horse opera ends with an unusual showdown and is a cinch to put on with easy costuming and one simple set.
