Perpetual Care Guidelines

Perpetual Care: payment for services to maintain, improve, and repair the cemetery grounds

(including the monuments and markers) according to the rules of the Association

1. Payment by the Association:

a. contracted landscape and lawn treatments

b. contracted excavation service (does not include removal/resetting of cemented, pre-need markers)

c. contracted monument/ marker repair when plot owners/descendants are no longer able to be located (i.e. Civil War veterans)

d. relocation/resetting of flush markers/corner markers when association is deemed to be at fault

e. wall repair damage when fault has not been determined

f. contracted tree and brush removal

g. signage

h. warning methods for safety ( i.e., crosswalk, traffic cones, etc.)

i. gate repair and security devices (i.e., locks)

j. administrative costs for keeping records, IRS filings, investment services

k. property damage due to an act of nature or vandalism, when fault has not been determined

l. payment to the Superintendent for supervision of work and burials

2. Payment by Contractors (whether hired by plot owners or the Association*):

a. flush marker, monument, or corner markers damaged during contracted work

b. cemetery grounds damaged during contracted work

c. removal/ relocation/resetting of monuments, flush markers, or corner markers when contractor is deemed to be at fault (i.e., does not follow the specifications/ rules of the Association; does not verify with the Board of Trustees prior to ordering the product; and/or does not obtain permission from the Board of Trustees to enter the cemetery grounds to perform work) *contractors hired by the Association must present a Certificate of Liability Insurance naming the Eastford Grove Cemetery Assoc., Inc. as the Certificate Holder prior to the start of work

3. Payment by Plot Owners*:

a. professional cleaning of monuments and markers

b. repair of damaged monuments and markers where fault has not been determined

c. purchase of plot monuments, flush markers, corner markers

d. pre-need flush markers on grave of full burial: removal prior to burial and reinstallation by monument company after burial (i.e., excavator is not responsible for removing and resetting concrete base and flush marker)

e. relocation of flush markers, urns, and vault burials (for personal reasons)

f. inscription on monuments, flush and corner markers

g. *contractors must contact the Board of Trustees for approval of work ordered by owners and for permission to enter the grounds to perform the work
