No doubt, all this helped Jack the Ripper perpetrate his gruesome murders. Click on the photo to find out more.
The sad reality is that at the time the death or murder of a working girl was never reported to the police, appeared on the press or discussed within polite society.
Adding to all this, several letters were also sent by the killer to the Metropolitan Police, also known as the Scotland Yard, in which he speculated on murders to come.
From August to November 1888, Jack the Ripper terrorised the White Chapel district in London's East End. He killed at least five prostitutes and mutilated their bodies in a way that suggested the killer had some knowledge in human anatomy. Jack the Ripper was never captured, and remains one of England's, and the world's, most infamous criminals.
