The history of Benmore Glebe is documented in Nancy Walker Dundas' book "The Days of Our Fathers", First Published, 1991. Nancy interviewed her husband, W. Norman Dundas and other members of this branch of Fermanagh Dundas. She also utilized records researched by Reverend William Harloe Dundas. This book is available from her at Springfield, Enniskillen, Northern Ireland.
These early Dundas settlers had arrived at Benmore Glebe to build houses and farm around 1699. The Glebe was designated as a Church land and tenants would pay rent to the Parish Rector. The initial settlement for their ancestors had been Drumenagh also known as Church Hill, the Village built near Tully Castle. Church Hill was growing and getting more crowded, so these Dundas families settled on the nearby lands of Benmore.
The earliest records of them was the Marriage of John Dundas to Catherine Belfore on 22 May 1732. John ws joined by his brother James Dundas who married Anne Patterson on 25 October 1736. John Dundas was recorded as a Freeholder at Benmore on 18 July 1751.
