The Dundas Y-DNA project began in 2006 to investigate the various male Dundas lines using FTDNA (Family Tree DNA). There have been some surprising connections between the Moses line, Benmore line and Australian Church Hill lines. The probable common ancestor was most likely between 1700 and 1750 at Church Hill. This is a very close 67 marker test, with 96% match in 12 generations or 99% match in 16 generations. More test participants are sought from all of the Fermanagh lines below to calibrate the results:
All current 28 results (4/1/2020) are found at http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Dundas/
Since 2006, new tests have been developed, most notably autosomal DNA tests, which identify possible cousins throughout any branch of a family tree not just the male line as with Y-DNA. There are several reputable testing companies that do autosomal testing including of course, FTDNA.
Individual results can also be uploaded to GEDMATCH which accepts raw autosomal data from most major testing companies. For a researcher, this broadens the pool of their possible DNA matches to include people who tested elsewhere. The upload service and basic research tools are free (April 2020) and advanced research and productivity tools are available by monthly subscription.
