07. Those Big Black Triangles
The original instigation to modify my big black triangles came from a desire to have a custom exhaust system made. After following all the discussion on the forum about different exhaust systems, none of them were reaching out and grabbing me.
Shortly after I bought the bike two years ago, I came across someone who did custom work, and literally was just round the corner from where I lived at the time. So this got me thinking about what I wanted in the exhaust system, and a key requirement was that it had to follow the lines of the bike, and in particular, the big black triangles. Hopefully with the result that the triangle would blend in and no longer be an eye-sore.
Standing back and looking at the right side of the bike I quickly realised that the way the triangle and footpeg/brake control was laid out, it was not possible to create the exhaust system I wanted without first modifying the triangles. To get the flow of the exhaust system that I wanted, it was necessary to get rid of the brake lever pivot being below the footpeg.
The end result is a much clearer appearance, with the triangles no longer standing out, instead looking integrated, and much better flowing lines to the bike:
