Michigan Residents are required to wear masks

Paula Tutman reports

May 20, 2020

President Trump’s approval rating increased from the January 2020 Baldwin Wallace poll, though a slim majority of Michigan voters still report disapproval with how Trump is handling the presidency. Survey respondents were split, with 46% approving of Trump’s performance and 49% disapproving.

“We’re calling this a ‘rally around the flag effect,’ which is unusual,” Towner said. “Normally, we see this when we’re talking about conflict -- 9/11, the Iraq war and the Vietnam war -- but the president is dubbing the coronavirus as a war and a war we’re going to win. That’s clever. It’s important messaging to the American people that this is a war that we’re going to fight.” mlive.com, March 26, 2020.

“We’re in a very divided nation right now and I don’t think we were as polarized then. With the Tea Party movement I didn’t see it continuing on this type of scale. There wasn’t a lot of organization and also with this movement people are protesting the entire government (as opposed to one party),” Towner said.
