I have worked in the Canadian language translation and interpretation industry since 1994. Even after having made the move to work in academia, I have never ceased being a translator. I started translating academic documents (essays, articles and theses), and later moved on to work for private, not-for-profit and government organizations, including the Trimension Group, the University of Saskatchewan, the National Farmers Union, the Canadian Wheat Board, and the Government of Canada. I have translated all kinds of documents on diverse topics, and acted as interpreter for a variety of events (international exchanges, conferences, and negotiations). I became a Certified Translator in 2000, and have since been active in professional associations. Once I started graduate studies, I continued translating and interpreting part-time. While I still occasionally translate business documents, I have turned my attention to literary translation. I currently teach translation courses, an interest-turned-passion that began in 2005 while preparing translators who were about to take their translation certification examination.
