Kelmari
Kelmari [kel mar ee] is a night elf druid. His mother was a priestess of Elune somewhere in Teldrassil. She breached her vow of chastity and Kelmari was the result. She never told Kelmari who his father was. While there are several likely suspects, the issue is moot, as their village was destroyed and Kelmari’s mother killed by the Horde when Kelmari was a child. He grew up in the care of his mother’s sister, a sentinel in Dolanaar, and her husband, a master leathercrafter. Kelmari’s cousin Kalishnu has been his best friend from the day Kelmari came to live with them.
Kelmari is scrupulously correct in his deportment. He follows the druidic path of Balance, a traditional choice for a male of his race. While humans and others refer to him as a “night elf,” Kelmari prefers to identify himself as “Kaldorei,” one of the ancient people from whom all living elves are descended. Kelmari's fastidious propriety is often ascribed to his dubious parentage and the damage his mother’s indiscretion did to the family’s reputation.
Kelmari remains best friends with Kalishnu to this day, although he is often annoyed by what he perceives to be his cousin’s scandalous conduct and inappropriate career choice. While his stuffiness can make him difficult to approach, those who take the trouble to know Kelmari find that he is as loyal to his friends as he is to kaldorei tradition and the druidic way. He is always willing to help a friend—or even a stranger—in need.
As does any druid, Kelmari has great affinity for the natural world. He is loath to kill any beast, but he understands that when wildlife habitat and humanoid settlement overlap—where humanoid activity has disturbed the equilibrium of the ecosystem—good stewardship and protecting the Balance may mean that intervention is required.
