Dr. Neville John Ellis is an educational researcher and consultant. He holds a PhD in teacher professional learning and is expert in qualitative research methodologies. His research interests and areas of expertise include practitioner research, action research, mentoring, and comparative studies. Neville’s PhD, awarded through the University of Sydney, was a comparative case study which focused on teacher professional learning and practitioner research, investigating how practices are pre-figured and hence remodeled in different contexts.
Neville has previously worked at the School of Education, UNSW, Sydney - a research-intensive school which is a key player in the professional preparation of teachers and other educational professionals. As a Lecturer in Education, Teacher Professional Learning, Neville taught in the school’s undergraduate and postgraduate programs, played a leading role in the school’s research programs, and supervised honors and higher degree research students. He also performed effectively as both the Professional Experience Convenor and the Master of Teaching Program Convenor.

Prior to that, Neville worked at Western Sydney University as a key member of the Academic Year Optimisation Project and at Sydney University as a sessional academic. In addition, he was employed for an extensive period as a Senior Education Officer for the Ministry of Education, Singapore, and as Dean, People Development, Nanyang Girls' High School – the island state’s premier independent school – where he developed an intimate knowledge of the Singapore education system. During his tenure, Neville demonstrated strong hands-on leadership as a key member of the management team where he was in charge of all academic programs and the professional development of approximately 130 staff.
Dr Neville John Ellis' experience as a consultant, academic, teacher and school manager in different educational settings in Australia and South-east Asia means that he has an exceptional theoretical and practical knowledge of teacher profession learning and is highly effective in all three areas of teaching, research and administration.
