Postgraduate Students:

Randa Li - Randa's project concerns colour vision in late onset retinal degeneration (L-ORD) patients. Her clinical supervisors are Prof Bal Dhillon and Dr Roly Megaw.

Nicole Needham - Nicole will conduct work on visual structure and function, aligned with the broader themes of the Helios BD project. Her clinical supervisors are Prof Daniel Smith, Prof Bal Dhillon and Dr Tom McGillivray.

Undergraduate Students:

Former lab members

Postdoctoral Researchers:

Dr Ben J Jennings - Ben worked with me on a BBSRC funded project between 2011 and 2013. He then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at McGill University in Montreal under the supervision of Prof Frederick Kingdom, before taking up a lectureship at Brunel University.

Dr Ivana Jakovljev - Ivana was a postdoc at the University of Novi Sad (Serbia) and was supported by a regional scientific development grant for a 2-month visit to my lab in 2019. We conducted a study on the neural mechanisms of unique hues. Since 2020, Ivana is an assistant professor at her university.

Dr Josephine Reuther - Josephine was on a BBSRC funded project between 2018 and 2022. The aim was to build a unitary framework for low and mid-level vision, namely, masking, crowding and grouping. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Goettingen.

Postgraduate students:

2018 - 2023 - Ana Rozman - Ana's PhD was funded by BBSRC Eastbio and investigated the neural processing of saturation. She is currently a postdoc at the University of Sussex, working with Jenny Bosten.

2017/2018 - Ms Lindsay Thompson - Ms Thompson held a first degree in Psychology from Albion College (Michigan, USA). She conducted her MRes project under Dr Martinovic's supervision on the topic of neural processing of hue.

2014-2019 - Dr Amanda Hardman - Dr Hardman gained her MRes at the University of Aberdeen under Dr. Martinovic's supervision researching colour vision and visual salience. She followed this up with a PhD on salience across chromoluminance space, using psychophysical and EEG methods. She moved on to a position in the industry.

2018 - Dr Laysa Hedjar - Dr Hedjar holds a PhD from the American University, supervised by Prof Arthur Shapiro. Towards the end of her PhD, she was supported by an Experimental Psychology Society study visit grant and we conducted an EEG study on neural processing of luminance and contrast. She is currently a postdoc in Giessen with Prof Karl Gegenfurtner.
