Spa socks

I love comfy socks.  When Knitpicks came out with their organic cotton in sport weight, I immediately wanted to try them out with some nice spa socks to lounge around in.

I would never think that my feet were really sensitive, but to be on the safe side, the sole of the foot is knit inside out and my feet have been extremely happy with that choice.

I love to knit two socks at once.  This pattern is for two at a time, toe-up, magic loop socks, but this pattern can be easily adjusted for double point needles or two circular needles.  The directions are for magic loop as how I have knit them.

Women's size US 8.5, can be adjusted as needed to fit foot.  You will need additional ball of yarn for a larger size.

>> KnitPicks Simply Cotton Sport Yarn [100% organic cotton; 164 yd per 50g skein]; color: Ginger; 1 skein

Recommended needle size:
>> 1 40-inch US #2/2.75mm
[always use a needle size that give you the gauge listed below -- every knitter's gauge is unique]
>> tapestry needle
>> stitch marker

6 st = 1 inches in stst

N1 = needle 1
N2 = needle 2
kfb = knit back and forth
st(s) = stitch(es)
stst = stockinette
CO = cast on
BO = bind off

Using turkish cast-on, CO 24 sts (only wrap 12 times).  Make sure there are 12 sts on each needle before starting.  Place a marker to indicate N1.
Round 1: k all st
Round 2:
        N1: k1, kfb, k to the 2nd to last stitch, kfb, k1
        N2: k1, kfb, k to the 2nd to last stitch, kfb, k1

Repeat round 1 and 2 until there are 28 sts on each needle, for a total of 56 sts in the round.

urn the toe inside-out so that the stst faces the inside. You will have the reverse stst side facing you to start the foot/sole.

Knit one round before starting the foot starting from N2 to N1.

At this point, N1 will be designated as the top of the foot (or instep). N2 will be the sole of the foot.
For the heel stitches, knit all stitches (28 sts) Top of the foot (28 sts) is the following pattern (written out and in chart form): Row 1 - k all sts Row 2 - [k1, p1] repeat between [ ] until the end of the row Row 3 - k all sts Row 4 - [p1, k1] repeat between [ ] until the end of the row

 -    3
   -  1

 - p
Repeat all 4 rows in pattern for the top of the foot and work until 2" before the heel ending in row 4 to start the short row heel turn.

Turn sock inside out again for the stst to heel to face the outside.

Used Priscilla Wild's No Muss No Fuss Short Row Heel and the following YouTube video for reference.

Turn heel over 28 sts. Short row until 4 stitches remain on needle before picking up stitches on the needles back to 28 sts.
