DUAL CREDIT

What is Dual Credit?

Dual Credit is a term referring to students who earn BOTH high school credit and college credit at the same time by taking college level courses at San Jacinto College while still in high school. Students have the ability to earn over 30 hours of college credit prior to graduation. Any student who graduates with a minimum of 12 hours and a 3.0 GPA at San Jac will receive a special cord for graduation.

Is Dual Credit right for you?

  • Are you organized, self-motivated, and responsible?

  • Do you have good attendance?

  • Do you manage your time with little supervision?

  • Do you have at least a 3.0 GPA?

  • Have you passed all your EOC exams to date?

  • Have you earned all your credits to date?

How does it work?

Students must take the TSI assessment and meet college readiness standards in order to qualify to take classes in dual credit. Dual Credit students will receive a 75% discounted price on tuition but are still responsible for the balance and the cost of books.

*Some students may want to continue taking AP classes while still participating in dual credit. This is fine. You and your College Now Coordinator can develop a schedule that will benefit you in both programs.
