Your Residence Card (RC) will be your identification card during your stay in Korea. You must carry it at all times!
You should apply for your RC at the Daegu Immigration Office within 90 days of your arrival in Korea. You will need this card in order to open a Korean bank account, get your paycheck deposited, purchase a cell phone, and other important things. It is highly recommended that you apply for your RC as soon as possible. Your co-teacher should be aware that you'll be needing this card ASAP, but if nothing is mentioned in the first few days or so, feel free to ask about it. You must make an online reservation online before your visit on the HiKorea website. The availability of appointment times is very limited and it is normal for the first available appointment to be at least a week (sometimes up to a month) ahead. Take that into consideration when you are scheduling a visit to the Immigration Office.
Since there are two large intakes of NETs each year, the Immigration Office tends to be extremely busy around those times. They may tell you it may take up to a month to receive your RC. You will need to go back to the Immigration Office to pick up your card when it's ready or pay extra to have it mailed to you. If you decide to have it mailed to you, please make sure to provide your school's address with specifics such as your name and where your desk/English Department is located (e.g. 2nd floor, English Room). The school's address and specifics should be provided in Korean. Please ask your co-teacher for assistance.
