Library Advisory Committee  

Library has to provide to the needs of user client such as faculty, research scholars, and post graduate and under graduate students, institute administrators as well as specialists, engaged in non teaching staff of institute, a wide range of subject fields are to be represented in our book stock with prime thrust for meeting the needs of students and faculty members. Besides this, for smooth functioning of the library and safe guarding the interest of all sections of the library users, formation of policies, rules & regulations and implementing the library policies in a judicious manner, an infrastructure is needed for the library. The Library advisory committee should be final authority .It should include the librarian, subject specialist, to meet the all the above objectives the Central Library is advised by a Library Advisory Committee with the following constitution and representatives.   

MISSION

1. 1.     The Mission of the library committee is to advice on resource development and other activities related to users’ needs to        library of institute .Library Advisory  Committee is suppose to advise on policy matters ,collection development, services         and facilities. Library Advisory Committee`s role is appreciated in as balancing act of all subjects resource development.

   2.     Responsibilities of Library and its members:

      1. Library Advisory Committee can advice on specific issues ,problems and concerns related to central library and make  recommendations to the head of institute .

      2. Provide the library manager with the input.

      3. Facilitate communication between Head of institute, LAC members, and the library

      4. Obtain the advice and views of the users on library needs in their area, and report these views to head of institute.

      5. Be familiar with library structure, library history,

      6. Suggest/recommend programs to the Library Manager.

      7. To supervise the allocation and utilization of funds for different departments for purchase of books and journals for the Central   and Departmental libraries

      8. To consider and put forward the views of faculty members regarding books/journals selection, ordering process etc.

            9 .To consider and put forward the views of students and Research Scholars regarding their problems and solutions sought                   thereof.

Membership:

The persons to be appointed as members should be the ones seriously interested in library matters, and should have progressive attitude .They should not interfere with management and administration of library. Once a librarian has been given responsibility, he should be made accountable. But members should provide all the support and encouragement he needs to implement the policies accepted by library advisory committee.

Constitution & Functions:

The committee shall consist of the following members:

· The Hon. Principal to be nominated as Chairman.

· HOD of Department as faculty representative.

· Librarian – Member Secretary.
