STARRING Next Generations

Saturday June 7 Workshop: Intro to architecture / sketching / pizza / UW campus sketching tour

10am-2:30pm at UW Gould 208J: a gathering of Seattle-area high-school students, UW architecture students, & participants in the AIA Seattle Diversity Roundtable

10am: Welcome & introductions: how people find their paths into architecture, early discoveries, education, & the day-to-day work of an architect

10:15-11:15: Fundamentals of sketching: materials (provided), visualization, objectives, results w/ Anita Lehmann

11:15-noon: pizza

Noon-2pm: campus sketching tour: teams of architects & architecture students will lead high-school students to view campus facilities including Gould Hall, Architecture Hall, Jacobsen Observatory, Intellectual House, sketching along the way

2:15-2:30: reconvene at Gould 208J for conclusion

Thursday June 19 / June 'Teenth Sequence The Optimism of Architecture: Design Generations Celebrating/Supporting Diversity 5:30-7:30pm HAPPY HOUR POTLUCK at UW Gould 208J w/ 2014 UW ARCHITECTURE DIVERSE SCHOLARS

*STARRING NEXT GENERATIONS: student sketches from June 7 INTRO TO ARCHITECTURE at UW Gould w local K-12 youth

* Diversity by Design travelling exhibit highlighting diverse Seattle-area design practices
