Going Further

Here is a collaborative online writing space which we have set up for DigitalGist -- using a Web 2.0 tool called EtherPad.

Please go to the page and give us feedback on our presentation, e.g., what did you get out of it? Did it meet your expectations? Do you have any plans to explore more digital content for your school in the near future?

As it is a shared document, feel free to add to or comment upon other people's contributions.

The delicious tag "digitalgist" can be used to find all the links we collected -- and will continue to collect -- on this topic. You can set up an RSS feed on that tag.

Some of the tags we've used in conjunction with "digitalgist" are: ebooks, audiobooks, examples, e-sources, mobile_devices, applications, articles, future, reading.

You can use the same tags to add to our lists (just remember to include digitalgist).

Keep up with the latest developments

Miscellaneous quotes

While studies over the last ten years have shown that MARC records in an online catalog directly affect ebook usage, some librarians question the value of subject headings for a full text database when the content is accessible via Google. If use patterns for e-books are similar to e-journals, then the majority of readers will access the content by linking from a search result, bypassing the online catalog and the front page of the database.
