Favorite Things
As the song says "These are a few of my favorite things";
Sitting in front of a fire and reading a good book on a snowy day
The fall is my favorite season. The heat of summer is over with, the leaves are changing color and the weather usually has just a nip in it, with a hint of what's to come. I like hiking on leave covered trails.
Photography - Sunsets (Sunrises happen to early in the morning ), Landscapes, Nature and old buildings. I like both color and black and white. Best photographer - Ansel Adams.
Traveling - Seeing the USA, staying at B & B's., the Maine coast, the west coast, the Rocky Mountains. Some trips I would like to do are; sail the Maine coast in a Windjammer, sail the Caribbean in a sail boat and drive the Rocky Mountains from Mexico to Canada.
Restaurants - I like country inns, quite out the way restaurants, places with rustic charm. I guess that I'm a romantic at heart.
Music - The Grateful Dead - "Workingman's Dead", Pink Floyd - "Dark Side of the Moon", Linda Ronstadt, Carly Simon, Journey - "Wheel in the Sky" & "Lights". Basically anything from the sixties and early seventies. From Acid Rock to Folk and any thing in between. I like what I like.
My favorite authors are; Marion Zimmer Bradley - The Darkover Series, Frank Herbert - The Dune Series, David Weber - The Honor Harrington Series, Diana Gabaldon - The Outlander series, Elizabeth Moon - Paladin's Legacy & Vatta's War, Mercedes Lackey - Valdemar, Robert Jorden - The Wheel of Time, and author Susan Bigelow. If it's science fiction, I have probably read it.
My favorite game is Backgammon. I feel that I am a pretty good player and can hold up very well against a strong player.
Sitting by the lake enjoying good company, good food, good wine and pleasant conversation.
Let see... What else do I like? Hmmmm... What haven't I mentioned. Ah...Food. Oh yes how could I have forgotten that.
I like cooking, mainly because I don't like to eat the same old stuff over and over again, I like to experiment with different ingredients. It probably has something to do with all the chemistry classes I had to take. See my recipes web page.
I like chicken, pork and once in a while a steak. Once in a great while, fish.
I like Italian and Mexican foods. I make a great chili.
Oh yeah, I should have put this as number one. Lobster, steam clams, clam chowder ( New England clam chowder, of course. ), corn on the cob and washed down with a good beer.
What I don't like is Chinese foods. Broccoli, Spinach, and most definitely mushrooms.
These are only some of my favorites things, but they are the ones that come to mind as I sit here writing. As time going by I will probably add some more and delete some.
