Week 2 - Famous Africans

This is the second session we ran before the students met their pen pals. This session required the students to investigate a famous African past or present, piecing together their biography and contribution to the world.

The students researched famous individuals such as Haile Selassie I, Emperor of Ethiopia (above), environmentalist and political activist Wangari Maathai, US President Barack Obama, or Mansa Musa, the 14th-century ruler of Mali and recently nominated 'the richest human being in all history'). They created posters and displays to educate the rest of the class. These were peer- assessed.

This session was assessed according to History levelled learning outcomes, using a History APP grid.
