The Denofio Insurance Agency was started in 1954 by Carmine L. Denofio in a room in his house. The room was actually an area behind a stairway. The business grew rapidly even though Carmine worked at it on a part-time basis while teaching high school in Schenectady. In 1963 he moved the office to a new location in Woodlawn, this time in an office area in the house. In the 1980's, Carmine's son David began working in the business and assumed ownership of it in 1986. Three years later the business office was moved to an office area on the side of David's house, at its present location of 1317 Regent Street.
