Technology is very much a part of nursing and will increasingly impact nursing education. I enjoy finding ways to supplement clinicals and lecture with this medium. This page houses some blogs and wikis I created for personal and professional use.
I continue to maintain and expand various educational sites that I created through the years to supplement student learning. Previously, these sites included 2 nursing wikis called Nursing Class and Nursing Class 2 that closed in 2018 with the closure of Wikispaces.com. The Nurse's Watch blog and a Pinterest are still available for student learning.
I enjoy using applications within the Canvas learning management system (LMS) to engage students and encourage analysis and reflection. Flipgrid, Adobe Spark, and Hypothesis are three such applications that offer students the opportunity to creatively submit a presentation or argument, while Hypothesis can help students dissect research articles and comment in a group setting.
While completing my B.S.N., I engaged in an informatics class. I enjoyed learning about this medium immensely. During this class, I had the opportunity to create a blog for nurses. The blog is called Nurse's Watch. The original purpose was to examine various nursing blogs and to analyze the intent and purpose behind them. After this was accomplished, I retained the blog to document my educational pursuits and discuss nursing issues. Nurse's Watch has received recognition from an online Masters in Nursing site, which included it in an article called "Top Fifty Nursing Blogs, You Aren't Reading Yet" that reviewed numerous nursing blogs. The link for this blog is http://nurseswatch.blogspot.com
Several years ago I started a personal blog which houses whimsical musings and reflections about my life as a homeschooling mother to six energetic children. This blog has garnered several respected blog awards through the years. It is called Mops and Pops Place and is located at http://mopsandpopsplace.blogspot.com
