Profile
I am a creative, hardworking, self-motivated individual. I currently teach in the graduate nursing department at Anderson University (AU) which is located at the University Center in Greenville, S.C. I love research and writing and enjoy facilitating the graduate nurses Doctor of Nursing Practice projects and manuscript development.
My professional background includes work as a nurse for 12 years in labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum (LDRP) and mom/baby before working 9 years as a nurse in pediatrics. I obtained some experience as a medical-surgical and home health nurse as well. I have taught nursing in the clinical setting, classroom environment, and online for 11 years.
I have a green belt in Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and enjoy research and quality improvement. I have a natural talent for organization and thrive in a collaborative environment. My research focus concerns adolescent risk screening in the primary care setting. I am excited to continue to focus on researching and improving the health of this vulnerable population.

I have assisted the School of Physical Therapy with student interviews and continued to mentor graduate nursing student’s research endeavors.
After serving on the Textbook Affordability and Open Educational Resources (OER) forum from 2015 – 2016, I have worked hard to transition all graduate nursing classes to textbooks available through the library, Open Educational Resources, and governmental resources to decrease student costs. Finding new and creative ways to engage students within the online environment intrigues me. Active, purposeful teaching incorporating visual and auditory methods can create a stimulating and exciting online classroom for the nurse leaders of tomorrow.
