The Bull Run Mountains Conservancy maintains 11 miles of trails in this park, about 12 miles west of Manassas off I-66. You can hike up to an outlook on the western cliffs of the Bull Run Mountains that rise 700 feet above the rolling piedmont horse country, providing dramatic views to the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Bull Run Mountains are the most easterly chain in the Piedmont, overlooking the headwaters of two major watersheds: Occoquan (Bull Run) and Goose Creek. Like Sugarloaf Mountain, they are monadnocks: isolated hills of a hard rock — in this case metamorphic sandstones called quartzite — that have resisted erosion that has lowered the elevation of the surrounding piedmont.
Directions: Take I-66 to exit 40 at Haymarket and go south on 15 to the first light, turn right on 55, turn right on Turner Road, cross over I-66 and turn left on Beverley Mill Drive.
