Davan Tours is a small organisation started in 2011 to provide budget tours in Uganda and Kenya. We are based in Tororo, in Eastern Uganda, and by traveling with us you will get to experience, and support, the local communities in this region.
The primary aim of Davan Tours is to generate employment opportunities and economic development in Eastern Uganda. Profits from this business feed directly into our affiliated charitable organisation to support orphans and raise awareness about HIV in the Tororo district. See Let the Needy Smile for more information about our charity.
Davan Tours is a registered Tour company in Uganda with Registration Number: 80020000508512 registered with the URSB under the companies' Act of Uganda.
A secondary aim of Davan Tours is to enable foreign travellers to visit this beautiful part of the world without spending a fortune. It is counter-intuitive that most East African citizens live on a few dollars a day, yet it costs most tourists 1000's of dollars per week to visit. We achieve our low prices by keeping overheads to a minimum. We do not have significant administrative costs, offices abroad or large profit margins to achieve. We use simple, but respectable accommodation as selected by previous clients. It is not luxury 5-star, but you will not be camping or riding in the back of a truck. We realise we are significantly cheaper than most other African safaris, so we hope that you will consider spending some of your savings on local food, crafts and activities to boost the local economy in the areas you visit - its up to you :) Donations to our charitable work in Tororo can be made directly to Let the Needy Smile.
Davan tours is managed and operated by Ivan Oketcho, from Tororo, Uganda and will only employ local guides from Eastern Uganda. Davan tours was initiated by Ivan and Darren Creek, an Australian that previously lived and worked in Tororo. Darren donated his time and extensive travelling experience to design the tours and train guides, with the intention that the tours will support our charitable organisation for orphans in Tororo district.
