Useful information for travelers to Uganda
Weather:
Uganda and Kenya are in the tropics, but the altitude (mostly over 1000m) keeps it from getting too hot. Maximum Temperatures are always 25 - 30 C and minimums from 10 - 18 C. Most days are sunny. Rain storms can be heavy, but usually only last for an hour or two. Thunderstorms are common around Tororo and if you come in the wet season (March-May) you're guaranteed to see some impressive lightning displays!
In general, pack for summer weather.
Currency:
Most transactions in Uganda will be in Ugandan Shillings (and Kenyan Shillings in Kenya), although some tour operators and government agencies (i.e. National Parks and Immigration offices) require US dollars. Credit/debit cards are not commonly used.
We recommend bringing US dollars cash, which can be readily exchanged for local currency. Alternatively, ATM withdrawals are possible with Visa (Plus) or Mastercard (maestro) in all towns and cities, but be aware that there are often long queues for the machines, and not all cards work in all machines.

With the correct precautions and advice this tour should not pose any extraordinary risks to your health. Before coming please update your vaccinations, and then while travelling remember to only drink bottled water, and take medication to prevent malaria. Sunscreen and insect repellent are important.
