Collaborative Sheets Projects
The image to the left shows the logistics of collaborative-pair spreadsheet projects. The instructor is serving as more of a collaborator. Ideally you want the students to develop the spreadsheet correctly so they can address the questions.
To enhance computational skills of students, we have developed a number of projects where students work in pairs.
Mass-Volume Google Sheets Project (instructor shares unique data sets*, three mass as a function of volume sets, with each pair of students) This is a follow-up activity to our laboratory, Investigating a Mass-Volume Relationship via Online Collaboration
successive approximations (student pairs create an interactive Google sheet and share with instructor)
radioactive decay: activity versus the number of nuclides (instructor shares a unique data set*, different half-life, with each pair of students)
The Density of a Binary Metal Alloy: Google Sheets Project (computational and graphing exercise, spreadsheet in Sheets)
How does the freezing point of a solution behave? (computational and graphing exercise, all done in Sheets)
*These activities have data generator spreadsheets available to make data sets for each group, instructors can contact us and we will share them.
