DanMUN is looking forward to welcoming students from all over the world to our 4th annual international conference. The conference will take place in beautiful Copenhagen. While there will be a comprehensive academic program during the five days of the conference, participants will also have the opportunity to enjoy the city, as we have many social activities lined up during the week.
From the 12 - 17 of October, 2009
80 €, which covers attendance to the simulation, lectures and debates during the week and most of the food during the six days (excluding breakfast). Beverages during our social activities are not included.
It does NOT cover accommodation or transport to Denmark, which we unfortunately do not have sufficient funds to help out with.
We are grateful for our sponsors contribution to the conference, which enables us to keep the participation fee at its current level.
In DanMUN we focus on quality rather than quantity. We therefore aim towards giving the approximately 50 chosen participants the best experience possible, rather than attempting to expand the conference in size. Delegations will consist of between 2-3 people and simulations will fill about 2/3 of the program, with the rest consisting of lectures, debates and social activities.
DanMUN values the cultural and social aspect of MUN's highly and we encourage people to establish friendships through academic activities. If you are keen on socializing with other people from many different countries and cultures, and keen on being challenged academically, we would encourage you to apply.
During the first 2-3 days the main emphasis will be on getting to know the scenario and each other. This means social activities mixed with several lectures concerning the topic for debate in the Security Council. We will also visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Danish Parliament.
The rest of the week will be centered around the Security Council sessions. Usually starting around 9:00 a.m. and continuing until 17:00 p.m.

The crisis scenario that will be discussed in the UN Security Council during this years conference, evolves around Afghanistan. Go here for more info: DanMUN 2009 - Scenario
The sessions will take place in the Security Council of the United Nations.
The President during the sessions will be:
Anders Bang Mønster Hansen
Anders has had extensive experience with leading MUN proceedings and we feel lucky to have him onboard!
If you arrive at DanMUN from a foreign country and wish us to help you get settled before the conference begins, please don't hesitate to send us an E-mail prior to your arrival once your attendance has been confirmed. We will do our best to meet you in the airport and ensure you get settled whereever you will be staying. We can't wait to meet you!
As listed in the preliminary program, the week will begin with registration and a warm welcome to the participants at CBS, which will also host the simulations of the Security Council. The address is listed below, but you will receive further details by E-mail closer to the conference.
As last year, the conference will take place at Copenhagen Business School in Copenhagen, Denmark. Easyly accessible by metro or other public transport. See www.CBS.dk for more info.
Couch surfing
DanMUN does not have funds to pay for accommodation. If you have insufficient funds to pay for a hotel during the week, we encourage you to look at other options, such as www.couchsurfing.org.
Private accommodation
We might have a few free beds available at the private residences of the DanMUN board, however, most of us are students, so space is limited. Add your interest for this option in your application mail, if you are interested. But we can not guarantee that you will be given a free bed!
Cheap hotels
If you are looking for a cheap but nice hotel in Copenhagen, we can recommend: www.danhostel.dk with prices from around 25 € per day in shared rooms.
The cheapest accommodation available
