In fact, we may be heading for a flurry of activity as we approach the trade deadline.
The boys have never been big fans of using percentage of ownership as a guide, but looking forward, one might have to say the Ichiros are now the favorites.
Of their 14 active hitters, 13 of the 14 Ichiros have better than 90%ownershio and the other 78% For the Stompers, 9 of the 14 have better than 90% ownership, and the other 5 have 82,75,43,37 & 21.
Of their 9 active pitchers, 7 of the 9 Ichiros have better than 90% ownership and the other two are 88 & 41. For the Stompers, 5 of the 9 have better than 90% ownership and the other 4 are 53,21, 5 and 0. Zero!?
Foghorn is on patrol!
8/4/21:
The boys at ACME have always wondered whether the key to success was to keep active and juggle one's roster, or was the key to have a relatively stable roster (meaning fewer injuries).
Towards this end, they annually take a count of the number of active players each team has had. With the 10-day IR and the Covid virus, one thing seems sure - this year will set some records in terms of the number of active players.
In any case, the number of active players by team:
Moonfish (38 hitters, 26 pitchers) 64
Roy Hobbs (35,28) 63
Pistoleros (41,21) 62
Stompers (34,28) 62
Bash Brothers (35,22) 57
Dingers (31,26) 57
Street 45's (32,25) 57
Ichiros (25,28) 53
DeJays (27,22) 49
Jacks (29,20) 49
Bozos (29,19) 48
Moneyballers (29,19) 48
Brushbacks (27,12) 39
Dankees (22,17) 39
78ers (22,16) 38
Let's see, what do the 1st place team an last place team have in common? They're tied for 3rd among active players. As usual, there doesn't seem to be any correlation between making moves and one's place in the standings. I suspect some teams will always rank near the top and others near the bottom, nut it has to do with the fact that some GM's just like doodling more than others. But the one number that stands out is that the Brushbacks have only used 12 pitchers to fill their 9 pitching slots. With the normal attrition rate of pitchers, this may be a record!
At the end of Period 12, the Stompers had a 403-point lead over the Ichiros. The boys at ACME announced that the race was basically over. Whoops.
