Review the Modified Process - COVID19 page to learn more about the modified Eagle Scout Project approval process and use of electronic signatures.
Each sub page in this section includes a list which you should print then check off as you prepare the final paperwork.
It is very important to keep in mind that all Eagle Scout rank requirements with the exception of the board of review must be complete 1 day before your 18th birthday.
This page and three sub-pages highlight the final paperwork necessary to complete the Eagle process. It is important to use the latest version of the forms as you complete the process. These forms can be found on pages BAC Resources, DAC Resources, and BSA Resources.
The following paperwork must be completed 1 day before your 18th birthday. Please do not jeopardize all of your hard work by missing this date.
□ 1. Complete the official Eagle Scout Rank Application, No. 512-728 form. Use the checklist on the Complete Your Eagle Application page to verify that the form is complete. You should take the application to your unit leader conference. Note there is no requirement that the signatures of the unit leader and committee chair be dated before your 18th birthday.
While Scouts are encouraged to complete and submit all paperwork in advance of the 18th birthday that is not always possible. The following paperwork may be completed after your 18th birthday.
□ 1. Ask your unit leader to complete a Unit Leaders Comments form prior to the Board of Review.
□ 2. Obtain the unit leader and committee chair signatures on the Eagle Scout Rank Application, No. 512-728 form.
□ 3. Prepare two ‘Board of Review binders’. Retain your original binder for your board of review. Deliver the Xerox copy to the district advancement chair. The Xerox copy will be reviewed then provided to the district representative you will sit on you board of review. Use the checklist on the Board of Review Binder page to verify that the binders are complete.
□ 4. Complete BAC Eagle Scout Rank Award Confidential Reference Letter Requests letters for each reference entered on your Eagle Scout application. Provide these letters to your unit leadership for mailing.
□ 5. Prepare and deliver a ‘Proof of Advancement Package’ to the Baltimore Area Council Help Desk. Use the checklist on the Proof of Advancement Package page to verify that the package is complete. You should hand deliver or mail the package via registered mail.
NOTE: If your unit leader or committee chair are unwilling to sign your Eagle Scout Rank Application, Unit Leader Comments form or are unwilling to conduct a Scoutmaster conference, you will still be granted a board of review. For details of this process, see “Initiating Eagle Scout Board of Review Under Disputed Circumstances,” 8.0.3.2. Please contact the District Advancement Chair at advancement.chair@gmail.com as soon as possible if you anticipate such issues.
Your board of review should occur no later than 3 months after your birthday. Please be aware that extending beyond that date without qualifying circumstances will jeopardize Eagle rank advancement. Please email advancement.chair@gmail.com if you think you might not be able to meet either deadline. You can learn more about this topic at 8.0.3.1 Eagle Scout Board of Review Beyond the 18th Birthday.
