The Essential Hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa is built on four hallmarks that each chapter should strive to capture in each of its activities.
Beta Lambda Mu participates in multiple programs in the area of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Fellowship. Participating in chapter activities leads to expanded perspectives and the intersection of multiple disciplines for the individual member.
Scholarship
Phi Theta Kappa celebrates and promotes the student's academic excellence. The honor society has a rigorous academic requirement for admission and continued membership. PTK helps students maintain the Hallmark of Scholarship by encouraging chapter members to participate in research opportunities such as the Honors in Action project.
Leadership
Phi Theta Kappa offers a plethora of leadership opportunities on and off campus. Active membership encourages new skills that can help promote the creation of campus and community leaders. Some members can go above and beyond and become officers at the chapter, regional, and international levels.
Service
Service participation in and outside of campus helps members develop leadership skills by offering service in the local community. Service projects include the service or advocacy piece of your chapter’s Honors in Action projects, College Projects, College Completion Corps campaigns, community service projects, and various chapter activities.
Fellowship
Fellowship serves to bond a team and helps create a network of friends and professional resources that members will be able to take with them beyond the community college. This hallmark helps bond incredibly driven individuals and helps them juggle the other three hallmarks.
