Hello! I'm Emily, and I've just stepped in as AGLISS President. This is my second semester in the MSLIS program. I have a B.A. in Art History and spent many years teaching in elementary and early childhood classrooms. Most recently, I worked as a professional organizing consultant and volunteered on the board for the DC chapter of the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals. I'm excited to now be gearing up for a career focused on organizing information! I strongly believe in volunteerism and giving back to my community, and I'm happy to be serving my academic and professional colleagues through AGLISS.
Outside of work and studies, I’m passionate about outdoor activities, especially hiking, biking, and kayaking. Growing up in Colorado nurtured my connection to nature, and after more than 20 years in the Washington, DC area, I’ve fallen in love with the Appalachian Mountains, Chesapeake Bay, and Atlantic Ocean. I’m also an avid reader of historical fiction, a fan of museums, and a dedicated DIYer.

Hello everyone! My name is Izzy Ruiz and I am the secretary for AGLISS this year. This is my second year in the MLIS program, and I am on the generalist track currently. Might or might not graduate in Spring of 2027, but that is the plan! I am originally from CA, and received my BA in History at Saint Mary's College of California. If you see me running around campus, that is because I also work for CUA in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. I love all things fandom related, and am an extrovert at heart so please say hi!

Hi, my name is Riley and I am the new newsletter editor for AGLISS. I'm in my first year of the dual MA in English and MS in Library and Information Science. I'm originally from the DMV, but spent some time in upstate New York, when I studied Literatures in English and Translation at Ithaca College. When I'm not working at the Writing Center or doing school work, I'm probably baking or reading!

* About GSA Senators: GSA senators participate in CUA's Graduate Student Association meetings representing LIS students. Our participation in GSA guarantees the department a portion of student activity funds, which is used for LIS-related events and activities and to reimburse students for the cost of attending conferences and joining professional organizations (see our funding page for more details). There are a total of 6 GSA meetings per semester, once every 2 weeks on Wednesdays from 7:30pm to approximately 9:00pm. To remain in good standing and get our rebate, we must have 50% attendance.
As of Fall 2019, the GSA senator is no longer an officer of AGLISS - the senator position is now independent of any student org, and receives funding requests from all students and student organizations equally.
Further details about GSA senators can be found here: CUA GSA
All positions are appointed for an academic year. Officers interested in serving for an additional term can be reappointed. The responsibilities are flexibly adjusted depending on officers' interests in serving.
