About Us

WHO WE ARE

The purpose of AGLISS is to further the academic, intellectual, professional and social interests and relationships of memberships; and to generally enhance the experience of the graduate students in the Department of Library and Information Science at The Catholic University of America. AGLISS facilitates communication between the faculty and students, keeps students informed of department plans, and encourages networking.

We are the official student organization for CUA's Department of Library and Information Science. We participate in CUA's Graduate Student Association meeting representing LIS and HIT students. Our participation in GSA guarantees a monetary rebate of student activity funds, which is used for AGLISS and LIS/HIT-related events and activities.

We also serve as CUA/LIS's official student chapter of the American Library Association. The American Library Association (ALA) is the oldest and largest library association in the world, providing association information, news, events, and advocacy resources for members, librarians, and library users.
